Programme Aim
To equip learners with the knowledge, skill and competency to achieve a QQI Level 5 in Safety and Health at Work 5N1794. Our trainers are highly qualified with a vast background of experience, are educated to degree level and hold a training qualification. There will be a particular emphasis on the learner maintaining safety and health in a work environment. They should be able to identify challenges and be able to comfortably solve them, both independently and within a group. Progression for successful learners will be to other programmes leading to other certificates where this component is mandatory or an elective requirement.

A learner seeking entry to a programme leading to awards at level 5 does not need a previous formal qualification. HCT would highly recommend that learners have achieved some certification at Level 4 or have relevant work/ life experience

Understand the role of the HSA and current legislation that effect employees and employers Be capable of completing risk assessments and completing action points and control measure Accident investigation and reporting to include causes, prevention emergency procedures, reporting and record Understand and investigate safety statements and safety manuals Health and Safety management measures Fire hazards, their source and the requirement for the fire prevention controls
